Many people think that Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County is a law enforcement entity. Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County is operated by volunteer citizens. This non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization relies on donations from businesses and citizens in Palm Beach County to raise funds for the administration and rewards of the program.
The Board of Directors has held telethons, golf tournaments and other fund raising events to support the program but it is difficult to maintain its existence without local, state or federal funding. There are many national organizations that derive funding throughout the country but Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County is solely dependent upon the support of the Palm Beach County community.
When you donate to Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County, Inc. you share in the safety of our Palm Beach County community. Whether you are a business, or a concerned citizen, your support is invested back into Palm Beach County. Anonymous tipster calls assist all law enforcement agencies in resolving homicides, cold cases and recovering narcotics and property. From Homeland Security to the local police departments and from the Sheriff’s office to school police Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County assists in the reduction of time it takes to resolve crime creating efficiencies of all law enforcement.
Since 1981 Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County anonymous tipsters helped resolve nearly 6,500 cases, including 92 homicides and recovered nearly $23 million in narcotics and property. The “Student Crime Stoppers”TM anonymous tipsters have assisted in the removal of over 170 weapons, including 39 loaded hand guns, from our schools.
Approximately $400,000 in rewards has been paid without one tax dollar coming from Palm Beach County. Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County pays “up to $3,000” for an arrest. Additional rewards are occasionally posted and supported by a third-party. Those funds are held separately and do not benefit Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County.
