Police Try To ID Man Who Robbed Boynton Beach Bank

Police are looking for a man who robbed a Boynton Beach bank Thursday evening, telling the teller to “keep smiling” before he walked out with a bag full of cash. The robbery occurred at a Chase branch on Congress Avenue about 6 p.m.

Boynton Beach police said a man wearing sunglasses and a New York Yankees baseball cap entered the bank and stood in line to wait for a teller. When he approached the counter, he handed the teller a $20 bill and asked for two $10 bills. Then, police said, the man put a note in front of the teller that read, “Keep smiling. This is a robbery.”

Police said the man told the teller to put the money inside a clear plastic bag that he brought, but as the teller was putting money in the bag, another teller exited a back room. Police said this startled the man, who grabbed the bag and walked out the bank’s front doors.

No weapon was seen and no injuries were reported
