$100,000 worth of cigarettes, cigars stolen from truck driver, Boca Raton police say

About $100,000 in merchandise was stolen from a cigarette truck driver on Wednesday by an unarmed robber, Boca Raton police said.

The victim, an employee of H.T. Hackney, told officers he had parked his work vehicle about 8:20 p.m. in the alley behind Walgreens in the 1000 block of Southwest Second Avenue. The victim said he was approached by a man who forced him into the rear of the truck and locked him in the cooler.

The man then made off with cigarettes, cigars and other tobacco products, police said. The victim was released from the truck after a good Samaritan heard him pounding on the side of the truck.
