A man was taken to the hospital Friday afternoon after being shot in a home west of West Palm Beach. Authorities say three people were inside a house on the 5200 block of Fourth Road when a man entered around 12:40 p.m. and asked for money. The unknown man shot the victim, whose name was not released, once near his armpit, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Teri Barbera said. He was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The neighborhood where the shooting occurred, west of Haverhill Road and north of Southern Boulevard, is the site of frequent drug activity, Barbera said. It was not immediately clear if anyone was robbed during the home invasion.
Sheriff’s officials created a search perimeter in the area and searched for a man carrying a “long weapon,” Barbera said.
