Suburban West Palm Beach man at-large after SWAT standoff

Authorities are searching for a potentially armed suspect after a four-hour standoff ended this evening with no one being found inside a suburban West Palm Beach home.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office responded around 1:30 p.m. to a domestic dispute between the man and his girlfriend at a residence at 416 Pine Avenue, sheriff’s spokeswoman Teri Barbera said.

The man has been identified as Roman Baldwin Jr., 26. Baldwin is wanted on numerous misdemeanor warrants, as well as a charge of aggravated assault, Barbera said. Palm Beach County jail records show that Baldwin has been arrested multiple times since 2003, including previous charges of domestic battery

Baldwin threatened his girlfriend with a knife, but she was able to flee the home with her child, Barbera said. SWAT team members responded to the scene and deputies made several attempts to make contact with Baldwin.

They entered the residence after 5:30 p.m., but did not find anyone inside. Deputies suspect that Baldwin is armed and he is considered to be very dangerous, Barbera said.
