Riviera Beach Police Department are still searching for suspect who shot at police officers

The search is continuing for a suspect who fired at city Police Officers at about 7:44 a.m. today. No officers were injured. The suspect, a young black male, was last seen running south in the 2400 block of Broadway. The suspect should be considered armed and extremely dangerous. Police are asking everyone in the area to remain vigilant and report any unusual sighting to police. This incident began when police responded to a report that a man was asleep in a vehicle parked at a gas station pump in the 2500 block of Broadway. The caller reported that there was a gun lying in plain view on the passenger seat. Police strategically placed stop sticks before awakening the man in case he attempted to flee the area. The suspect did attempt to flee and crashed the vehicle in the 2400 block of Broadway after running over the stop sticks. The suspect tried to carjack a passing motorist, but was unsuccessful. He then continued south on foot.
