On 03/24/12 at 0326 hours, units of the Riviera Beach Police responded to the 500 block of Old Dixie Hwy. in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival, Tyrell Jackson was discovered lying in front of 539 West 5th Street, Michael Hunter was found lying at the entrance of 401 Old Dixie Highway. Both victims had gun shot wounds. Riviera Beach Fire Rescue transported both victims to St. Mary’s Hospital. Jackson died at the hospital.
Police have reason to believe that the suspect in a homicide that occurred early in the morning Saturday, March 24th , targeted men who may have been working as transsexual prostitutes. In additional to the homicide, the man police are looking for is suspected of robbing individuals who fit that description. Three known incidents occurred within a 30 minute period of time – 2 in West Palm Beach and 1 in Riviera Beach. Other similar incidents may have occurred, but have not been reported to police. Riviera Beach Police Detectives are working with West Palm Beach Police Detectives on this investigation.
Officers on scene received information that the subject vehicle was silver 2005 to 2007 Buick Rendezvous seen leaving the scene moments after the shots were fired. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his late 20’s, approximately 5’8, medium built and a low hair cut. Hunter was taken into surgery for non life threatening injuries. All victims were transvestite.
This suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
