A shooting incident that ended with one man dead and a female victim with serious injuries yesterday (8/16/18) began with a dispute and escalated to a physical altercation before shots were fired.

A small group of people were standing outside at Stony Plaza at 1665 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. when two of the men first began arguing and then fighting.  A man who was not involved in the fight began shooting. Shots struck one of the men involved in the fight and a 24 year-old female member of the small group. The shooter then left the area. Someone at the scene drove the female victim to a nearby emergency room. The man, Mark James, Jr. (DOB 6/24/93), was pronounced dead at the scene.
