WEST PALM BEACH – Wanted: An opportunistic jewel thief in oversized denim shorts and stylish shades.
City police are appealing to the public for help in catching the nimble-fingered crook, who lifted a single sapphire and diamond ring from Provident Jewelry at 331 Clematis St. on Sept. 26.
Though he only filched one piece of jewelry, he had pretty good taste: The ring he pocketed was worth an estimated $105,000, records show.
Since the theft, the ring hasn’t turned up in local pawn shops or advertisements for sale, said city police Lt. David Bernhardt.
Anyone with information about the crime can call Detective David Duncan at (561) 822-1661 or if you’d like to remain anonymous and be eligible for up to $1,000 REWARD call Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County at 1-800-458-TIPS.
