Palm Springs Police need your help, next week marks the 2 year anniversary of Jacob Rogers’ unsolved homicide

On September 26, 2010 Jacob Rogers was discovered deceased by his father, in the 300 block of Arabian Road, Palm Springs. Rogers was determined to have been murdered, shot in his home during the prior afternoon. In 2010, the Palm Springs Police Department investigated the case, exhausted all leads and the case went unsolved. The case was reopened by Det. Cpl. DeRogatis in February of this year. Det. Cpl. DeRogatis has sought out new evidence and information from friends, family, potential witnesses, and has developed new leads on suspects. On September 22, 2012 the family is hosted a barbeque fund raiser to benefit Crime Stoppers and other victim’s charities at the German American Club located at 5111 Lantana Road, Lake Worth, Florida.

According to the family, they raised $4,000 with several outstanding pledges. On Wednesday, September 26, 2012, Crime Stoppers will increase the reward amount to $11,000 with money raised at last year’s fundraiser. Crime Stoppers, The Palm Springs Police Department, and the victim’s family will host a press conference for the anniversary of Jacob’s homicide. (9/26/12 at 10:30am). Crime Stoppers will then donate a poster at a local bus shelter reflecting the increase in reward money and request additional information in this case. The location of the poster, on Lantana Road west of I-95, was selected where it will be most visible to the suspects and those closest to the suspect. (Palm Springs detectives believe the initial intent of the suspects was a robbery which resulted in a homicide. Those present may not have realized the main suspect intended to commit this crime.)
