Authorities are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who raped a woman at gunpoint in suburban West Palm Beach.

The woman, whose name will not be released by authorities, told detectives of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division that she was waiting at the bus stop at Belvedere Road and Sansburys Way on Tuesday when a man approached her and told her he had a gun.

The woman said the man then took her to an “unknown location where he sexually battered her,” said Teri Barbera, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office. He was armed with an unknown handgun with a black handle.

Detectives met with the woman at Wellington Medical Center, Barbera said.
