On Tuesday, July 12, 2011, shortly after 10:00 pm, deputies responded to shots fired in the 100 block of South Elm Street, Pahokee.
Major J.P. Sasser was returning home from a commission meeting walking towards his residence when he heard multiple gun shots. He was not struck by gun fire. Mayor Sasser immediately called 911. Deputies responded and quickly set up a perimeter.
The suspect has been described as a tall black male, wearing all black.
