Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office investigating a shooting in Belle Glade

 — A 67-year-old man is expected to survive after he was shot Saturday morning but may lose his eye, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Teri Barbera said.

Ahmad Zayyad, of Belle Glade, was working at the Super Merchandise Store, 265 W Ave. A, when two black males walked in and demanded cash around 10:30 a.m.

Zayyad tried running from the suspects but was shot in the left eye. He was air-lifted to Delray Medical Center.

Barbera said she thinks the men got away with only Zayyad’s wallet.

The two males are described as between the ages of 17 and 20, between five-foot-five and five-foot-six, and medium build.

One suspect, who was armed, was wearing a burgundy hooded sweatshirt.

The other suspect’s face was partially covered, she said.
