Delray Beach Police need the public’s assistance with information on the homicide of Jarvis Collins.

Jarvis Collins’ spent the last day of his life as a peacekeeper trying to stop a violent cycle of shootings and retaliation between two feuding families, DBPD detectives say. His efforts ended with a desperate, futile attempt to save his own life. Someone shot the 30-year-old as he sat in his car in the 200 block of Northwest 7th Avenue. Mortally wounded, he drove himself to a fire station, but it was too late for paramedics to save him. It was just before 1:40 p.m. February 18. Less than two hours before, another shooting had left a 19-year-old man with gunshot wounds. Detectives believe Collins was attempting to prevent a retaliatory shooting when he went to 7th Avenue.
“Our community is the eyes and ears of this police department,” Chief Jeff Goldman said. “After a murder, more than ever, we need people to step up and provide information. The family of Jarvis Collins deserves it, and our community deserves it. If you know something and are in fear, you can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers.”
