Delray Beach Police Department homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that left one man dead just before 1 a.m. Thursday outside a local church.

DBPD officers who were patrolling the southwest section of the city heard the gunshots at 12:55 a.m. They immediately searched the area, looking for any evidence of a shooting, when a 911 call came in reporting a person injured at the corner of Southwest 12th Avenue and Southwest 1st Street. Officers found Alaster Anton King, 44, of

Delray Beach with apparent gunshot wounds. Officers performed cardio pulmonary resuscitation in an attempt to save King’s life. However, Delray Beach Fire Rescue responded a short time later and pronounced him dead.
