Boynton police investigating armed robbery at BP gas station

Boynton Beach police are investigating an armed robbery at a BP gas station that occurred around 4 a.m. Saturday when two masked robbers rushed in and pistol-whipped the clerk.

The 25-year-old clerk told detectives that he was standing outside of the station in the 600 block of West Boynton Beach Boulevard when the two men confronted him. As the clerk ran into the store, the suspects followed and grabbed him, police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said.

One of the suspects pistol-whipped the top of his head and then pointed the silver handgun at him, Slater said, demanding money.

The clerk handed over the cash register drawer. The suspects also took cigars and condoms, which they threw into a backpack before escaping, Slater said.

They were last seen running southwest across Boynton Beach Boulevard. The clerk’s injuries are not life threatening, Slater said.
