Boynton Beach Police are investigating an armed robbery at a Publix

Police are investigating an armed robbery Tuesday night in a Publix at 4753 N. Congress Ave. A cashier told police that at 8:37 p.m., a man put a pack of Mentos on the counter along with a $1 bill. She took the dollar, opened the register, handed him his change and closed the cash drawer. The man then pointed a black handgun at her and demanded she open the drawer again. He told her if she called out to anyone, she’d get hurt. He reached over the counter and touched the top of the register’s screen, which opened the cash register. He then took $295 in cash and ran out of the store. The suspect is described as a black male, about 6 feet tall, thin build, wearing a royal blue long sleeve shirt or jacket and black pants. He was also wearing a black hat with what appeared to be a white or light grey emblem on the front, black shoes and sunglasses.

Anyone who recognizes the thief is asked to call Det. Brian Anderson at 561-742-6115 or if you’d like to stay anonymous and be eligible for up to $1,000 REWARD call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS (8477) or text tips to tips@cspbc.com
