Boynton Beach Police are investigating a parental abduction of a 3 year-old girl

Boynton Beach Police are investigating the abduction of a 3-year-old girl who is believed to have beentaken to Mexico this weekend by her father. Irma Velasquez, 20, called police around 8 p.m. Monday to report that her daughter’s father had not
returned the girl following his weekend visit. Feliz De La Cruz Lopez, 26, picked Jazmin Lopez up at her mother’s home on Southwest First Street in Boynton Beach on Saturday afternoon. Lopez came back from Mexico three months ago and told Velasquez he wanted to be part of his daughter’s life. Velasquez was allowing him to take their daughter for a day or two at a time. Velasquez told detectives that she could not reach Lopez on Saturday night and when she spoke with him Sunday, he gave excuses about why he did not answer the phone. Lopez then called her Monday and had their daughter say that she didn’t want to live with her mother anymore.

Police have reason to believe that Lopez fled to the area of Tabasco, Mexico. Probable cause exists for his arrest, and detectives are working with local, state and federal authorities to locate him.

Anyone with information about Lopez is urged to call Boynton Beach Police Detective Rayner De Los Rios at 561-742-6153 or if you’d like to stay anonymous and be eligible for up to $1,000 REWARD call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS (8477) or text tips to tips@cspbc.com
