Boca Raton Police are seeking the public’s assistance identifying an armed robbery suspect.

n Thursday, January 22 at about 11:10 p.m., Boca Raton Police officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at Publix, 1968 NE 5th Avenue. Employees called 911 after they saw a man pointing a gun at other employees. Arriving officers met with several employees outside the store who told them that shortly before closing, a male entered the store pushing a shopping cart and was looking down at a store flyer. The male left the shopping cart in front of the customer service area and went into the bathroom. After about 10 minutes, an employee went to check on him. At that point the male exited the bathroom and pointed a gun at employees. The suspect had a neon green mask over his face and was holding a silver handgun. The suspect was described as a black male, about 5’8” tall, thin build, wearing a grey and black hooded sweatshirt and carrying a backpack. The suspect knocked on the closed and locked office door, where an employee was counting money. The employee didn’t open the door, but then the suspect began smashing the glass window in the door. The suspect displayed the gun and demanded she open the door, which she did. The suspect then took an undetermined amount of cash from the safe, put it in his backpack and left. No one was injured.

If anyone has information about this crime, they are asked to call Detective Jeff Stepp at (561) 620-6196 or Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at (800) 458-TIPS.
