Boca Raton Police are investigating two female scammers in Boca Raton

On Friday, February 3 at about 12:15 in the afternoon, Boca Raton Police officers responded to a report of a robbery by sudden snatching that happened in the area of 6830 North Federal Highway.

The victim, Emily O’Reilly, told officers she was walking home from church when she was approached by a female in front of the Sports Immortal Store. The suspect began talking to O’Reilly when a second female appeared from the side of the business and walked up to them. The second suspect told them that she had just found a purse full of money. She opened it and showed O’Reilly what she believed was thousands of dollars. The suspect said they were all lucky and could split the money but O’Reilly said she was not interested and attempted to leave. The suspects continued to try and persuade O’Reilly to share the money with them.

The suspects convinced O’Reilly to get into their car, a black Dodge Charger, and they said they would drive her home. Instead they drove to the parking lot of Arturo’s Restaurant. The suspects told O’Reilly they could all keep the money but they needed to know if they could trust her. They asked O’Reilly if she had any money, as a sign of good faith. O’Reilly showed them $400 she had in a bank envelope in her wallet. The second suspect snatched the envelope away from O’Reilly, counted the cash and added it to their cash. O’Reilly got out of the car and demanded her money back. Both suspects also got out of the car and the first suspect attempted to reassure O’Reilly. As this was happening, the second suspect got back into the car followed by the first suspect. They drove away without giving O’Reilly her money back.
