Robber holds up Boynton shoe store employee

Police are searching for a man who held up a Boynton Beach shoe store Sunday and handcuffed an employee to a shelf.

The armed robbery happened shortly before 9 a.m. at Off Broadway Shoes at 525 N. Congress Ave., according to Boynton Beach police.

A 24-year-old woman who works at the store was getting ready to open for the day when a masked man charged at her with a silver handgun.

He forced her to open the store safe and grew angry when he saw the amount of money in it, according to police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater.

The robber then grabbed the woman and handcuffed her to a metal shelf before he ran off. The woman was not hurt.

The robber is described as being about 5-foot-7, possibly bald, with a medium build. He wore a dark, knitted mask, gloves, a black jacket, blue pants and black shoes.

Authorities ask anyone with information about the armed robbery to call Detective Alex Moreno at 561-742-6138 if you'd like to stay anonymous and be eligible for up to $1,000 REWARD call Crime Stoppers at 800-458-TIPS or text tips @ tips@cspbc.com.
