Photos of bank robbery suspect released

BOCA RATON, FL--Verde Elementary School in Boca Raton was placed on lockdown Thursday morning after a robbery at a nearby Bank of America.

The heist happened around 9:40 at the bank at 21060 St. Andrews Boulevard.

Police say the armed robbery ordered several people on the floor, pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the teller, and demanded money.

He was last seen running west from the bank across St. Andrews Boulevard and onto Verde Trail.

Because police were canvassing the area for a suspect, the school was lockdown as a precaution.

No one was injured.

Police describe the robber as a black man, about 6’0” tall, with a muscular build. They say he appeared to be in his 30s and had short cropped hair. He was wearing faded jeans, a white-collar shirt, a dark suit-type vest, white sneakers and a fedora.

Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Juan Pijuan at (561) 338-1387 or if you'd like to stay anonymous and be eligible for up to $1,000 REWARD call Crime Stoppers at 800-458-TIPS.
