PBSO searching for suspects in double shooting

11-10-09: Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance with identifying suspects wanted for the Homicide of Fritznel Vertus and the Attempted Homicide of Mario Castellon

On Monday, November 9, 2009, approximately 3:21 pm, three Asplundh employees were trimming trees (contracted by F.P.L) in the backyard of 5100 Pat Place, West Palm Beach when they were approached by two black males. The black male suspects brandished semi-automatic handguns and demanded property. The victims told both suspects that they had nothing. The Asplundh employee, who was on a ladder trimming trees at the time, started to descend. The two suspects then discharged their firearms at the other two workers.  

One of the victims was pronounced dead on scene and the second victim was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center.  

Deceased victim has been identified as Fritznel Vertus, B/M, DOB: 12/17/69 from 411 North “B” Street, Lake Worth.

The injured victim has been identified as Mario Castellon, H/M, DOB: 4/01/58 of 2514 10th Avenue North, Lake Worth, he is currently in critical condition.
