On Saturday, June 6, 2009, at approximately 5:47 pm, family members of Gilberto Perez became concerned that they had not heard from their brother. Gilberto’s brother decided to enter his apartment to check on his welfare. Upon entering the residence, the brother located Gilberto on his bedroom floor deceased.
Detectives from Violent Crimes Division along with Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene and determined there were obvious signs of foul play.
An autopsy was performed on Sunday, June 7 and the manner of death was determined to be Homicide.
Gilberto Perez was 47 years of age and lived at 1229 South “M” Street, # 2, Lake Worth. He was an employee for Department of Children and Family Services, (DCF) in West Palm Beach. He lived an alternative lifestyle and frequented bars of that nature in the West Palm Beach, Lake Worth and Lantana areas. Gilberto did not have a driver’s license or car and frequently took cab rides to his destinations.
Gilberto was last seen alive on Saturday, June 6, at 9:30 am. Detectives are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen Gilberto between the hours of 4:00 pm Friday, June 5th and Saturday, June 6th at 4:00 pm.
