Boca Raton Temple Vandalized

BOCA RATON, FL--Boca Raton Police are investigating a hate crime that took place at a local temple Monday night.

According to police, just before 10 p.m., a Boca Raton Police Services Department officer was patrolling the area near Temple Beth El, located at 333 S.W. 4th Avenue, when he heard an alarm going off at the temple.

The officer met with Boca Raton Fire Department, who had responded to a fire alarm in the education center. The fire captain told the officer they had been out to the Temple several hours earlier for a pulled fire alarm and this time they saw damage to several bathroom doors that hadn’t been there earlier.

Investigators found damage to the bathroom doors consisting of scrawlings with sayings like “KKK," “Hail Hitler” and other racial slurs into the paint.  Several chairs were broken when they were thrown from a third floor walkway and four vases were broken at the mausoleum.

Anyone with information about this crime should call Detective Scott Hanley at (561) 338-1344 or if you'd like to stay anonymous and be eligible for up to $1,000 REWARD call Crime Stoppers at 800-458-TIPS.
