At least two women lured older men from at least four bars and restaurants in Palm Beach and Broward counties, drugged them and then stole tens of thousands of dollars in watches and cash, authorities said.
The incidents happened in the past month, and the string of robberies has investigators eyeing a possible connection in the cases.
On March 22, two men visiting Florida from Michigan left Oceans 234 in Deerfield Beach, and were tailed back to Boca Raton by a woman they didn't know. Michael Marcial and his uncle, Kelly Marcial, told Boca Raton police the woman talked her way into their condo at 3000 S. Ocean Blvd. and fixed them a drink. They blacked out, and when they woke up their Rolex watches — a black diamond-encrusted Daytona and an oysterband Datejust — valued at more than $30,000, were missing, police said.
The woman was described as white, heavyset, in her late 20s or early 30s, and dressed in black stretch pants. Her hair was pulled back in a ponytail.
None of the subsequent victms' names were made public.
On March 26, a businessowner met a woman during lunch at Duffy's Sports Grill on Village Boulevard in West Palm Beach. One thing led to another and the pair went off to have a drink at Okeeheelee Park, said Sgt. George Grosso of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office robbery squad.
At the park, the man drank half his drink and passed out cold. He woke up to find an undisclosed amount of cash missing, Grosso said. The woman, whose description wasn't available, also apparently stole his sport utility vehicle, which was found abandoned a short time later.
On April 3, a woman fitting the description of the suspect in the Boca Raton case met a man at Sailfish Marina in Palm Beach Shores. She boarded his boat for a drink, and the next thing the man knew he was facedown, stripped of $16,000 in jewelry and cash, said Detective Sgt. Dave Kelley of Palm Beach Shores police.
The woman was nowhere to be found.
The man described the woman to sheriff's sketch artist Paul Moody, who made a composite drawing. The man said the woman had dirty blonde hair, stood about 5-foot-7 or 5-foot-eight, and weighed between 160 to 180 pounds.
On April 9 in Palm Beach, two men hit several bars and then, about midnight, walked back toward a "midtown" house, police said. A car pulled up alongside them on Sunset Avenue, and two women asked for directions. They went with the men to another bar, and the foursome returned to the man's Palm Beach home. The man said he got sick and woke up the next morning to find his watch and wallet missing.
