Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office has new information on an unsolved homicide. After 24 years, detectives have new suspect information and are seeking assistance from the public to solve a cold case, the murder of Gloria Lacott.

Background

On 5-19-87, the body of W/F Gloria Lacott was discovered in a wooded area off Blanchette Road, just south of Forest Hill Boulevard in unincorporated West Palm Beach.  Lacott died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.  Forensic evidence was recovered from the crime scene and despite numerous interviews with family and associates of the victim, the case was not solved.  Lacott lived in the City of Lake Worth and was known to frequent the city streets and Lake Worth beach.

New Information

Since this crime occurred in 1987, much advancement has been made in the area of forensic testing, especially with relation to testing for the presence of DNA.  Scientific testing on evidence recovered from this crime scene has revealed a DNA profile foreign to that of the victim.  This profile is believed to belong to the killer. As recent as a few months ago, a new type of forensic testing was performed on this foreign DNA profile to determine the ancestry of the donor.  Based on the results of ancestry testing, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office detectives are now searching for a suspect from the following population: Native American, Hispanic, Central American or South American.

Anyone with information on this cold case is urged to contact Detective Michelle Romagnoli at 561-688-4065 or if you’d like to stay anonymous and be eligible for up to $1,000 REWARD call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS (8477) or text tips to tips@cspbc.com
