Boca Raton Police are investigating a robbery where the victim was followed home and robbed

On Tuesday, June 7 at about 12:45 a.m., Boca Raton Police officers responded to a robbery that occurred at 1332 NW 13 Court. The victim, Edward Hartman, told officers he had just arrived home from work when he was attacked by an unknown male. Hartman said he left his place of employment in Boynton Beach, went to the Chase Bank at Boynton Beach Boulevard and Military Trail, and then stopped at a Checkers in the same area. Hartman said he got on I-95 and drove straight home.

Hartman told officers he did not notice anyone following him when he pulled into the driveway of his home and parked his car. He got out of his car carrying a black satchel under his arm and opened the rear passenger door, when an unknown male hit him on the forehead and nose with a large rock, knocking him to his knees. The suspect demanded Hartman’s belongings. Hartman began yelling as soon as he was struck, which alerted his brother who was inside the house. James Hartman ran out of the house and saw a scuffle in the driveway, not realizing it was his brother who was involved. James Hartman yelled and three black males ran to an unknown vehicle. The vehicle left heading west on NW 13th Street. The suspects took the victim’s satchel, which contained a checkbook, credit card, and two cell phones. One of the males may have been wearing a white t-shirt. No other suspect descriptions are available at this time.

Hartman sustained a deep laceration to his forehead and a broken nose. He was treated and released from the Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Detectives believe Hartman was followed from Boynton Beach.
